Sacramental Preparation 2025–2026

We work closely with our parish - Our Lady Star of the Sea - and our parish priest - Fr Godlove in the faith formation of our children and preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion.

In order for your child to make these Sacraments, they must:

1. Attend preparation lessons at school (catechesis) – these are currently taking place on a Monday afternoon after school (3:20pm to 4:15pm) 

2. Attend Mass each weekend at Our Lady’s Church in Ellesmere Port (Mass times are Saturday at 5pm; Sunday at 9am and 11am)

3. Become actively involved in our parish (eg, read, altar server, welcome parishioners, do the offertory etc)

4. Engage in weekly reflection activities which demonstrate their understanding of the Sunday Gospel

This programme is only available to children who have already been baptised in the Catholic faith and who attend our parish church on a regular basis; that is, they are parishioners.

Lessons start after the February half-term each academic year. First Forgiveness usually happens in March/April each year and Holy Communion in May. 

This year we have 8 children who are part of this programme. They will make their First Forgiveness on Saturday 28th March at 11am and then their First Holy Communion on Sunday 10th May at 11am.
