Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium grant is allocated to schools from the Department for Education (DfE) to help pupils from the most deprived backgrounds achieve their full potential. These include pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as ‘Ever 6 FSM’); those looked after continuously for more than six months and children of service personnel. The intended effect of this funding is to accelerate progress and close the attainment gap between these pupils and their peers.

It is for each school to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, as it is assumed each is best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils at the School. However, to ensure proper accountability, schools are required to report on:

  • the amount of funding received;
  • how this is being used;
  • the impact of any work done.

The amount of pupil premium funding  received by St Saviour's Catholic Primary and Nursery School is calculated based on the number of children on roll in the January of each year, who are known to have been eligible for free school meals at any time within the last six years, or who are Looked After Children, or who are the children of armed service personnel.
