Our Vision

Our vision at St Saviour’s is based around high expectations for all.  On this page, you will see how our vision is lived. The first list was formulated by staff and governors; the second shows how we have presented it to our children in child-friendly language.

Our vision:

  • Have high expectations and aspirations for everyone

  • Foster strong, positive relationships

  • When marking or giving feedback, adults give clear guidance on how to improve

  • Develop students’ higher order thinking skills through the use of questioning and through discussions

  • Include a range of activities to develop critical thinking

  • Utilise a range of different learning styles

  • Facilitate classrooms that demonstrate strong behaviour for learning

  • Utilise structured, collaborative group work which improves children’s communication, allowing them to learn from one another

  • Promote self-control and positive behaviour, displaying independence

  • Show sensitivity and empathy towards others

  • Children and staff are encouraged to take risks

  • Develop and encourage resilience

  • Promote a growth mindset

  • Cultivate a love of learning

  • Children and staff are encouraged to be reflective

  • Use routines and procedures so students are aware of what to expect and how to behave without having to be told

  • Set tasks that extend beyond the classroom and that encourage independence

  • Celebrate success and achievements, sharing a sense of pride

  • Consistently emphasise and instil a limitless approach to learning

  • Provide enhancement and enrichment opportunities, including activities outside of the classroom

  • Foster a strong sense of community

Below are some reflections from our children on our vision and the importance of high expectations:

'I know that when I come to school I am going to learn new things when I am outside playing or if I am in the classroom doing work. I can learn with my friends and grown-ups. I make connections by remembering what I have already learnt and applying it to my everyday life.' – Nana in Y4

‘I try and live out the gospel values every day, but especially when we do work with Mini Vinnies and others who need help. I do this because it helps me get closer to God and feel better as a person.’ – Clark in Y5
